CHRISTMAS

A guy came to assess my house.
He had a yellow tape measure I envied,
and he drew it out and snapped it shut
as he took measure - wrote it all down -
the measure of my home.

When he was done and satisfied
he spied the barn out back.
"I have to measure the stable too."
I was struck by the word - stable

A stable

Where a baby was born
Where shepherds
And Wise Men
And a star
Mary and Joseph
No room at the inn.

A stable

Built with these hands
Daily mucked with these hands
Horses led in and out with these hands
Fed and watered with these hands

The hands of God - A stable
